Services & Insurance Sector Index was also up by 1.87% to close at 2,752.40 points. Al Jazeira Services, Oman United Insurance, Omantel, Maha Petroleum and Dhofar Insurance managed to gain by 5.44%, 2.86%, 2.77%, 2.66% and 2.55% respectively.
The market continued to maintain its rally on the last financial day of this year and closed with a moderate gain of 0.22% at 6368.80 points.   Thursday, December 31, 2009
The market continued to maintain its rally on the last financial day of this year and closed with a moderate gain of 0.22% at 6368.80 points. With the year drew to a close, the MSM index was the second best performer across the GCC market as it posted a 17.05% return on an YTD basis.

At the close of the session, shares of Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover .A total number of 3,909 trades were executed in today's trading session, generating turnover of RO 7.466 million with over 22.035 million shares changing hands.

The MSM benchmark index closed with a gain of 0.28% at 6197.22 points. A total number of 1,943 trades were executed in today's trading session, generating turnover of RO 4.101 million with over 12.116 million shares changing hands.

Muscat Gases ,Majan Glass, Construction Material Ind, National Aluminium and Oman Cement increased by 3.52%, 1.88%, 0.94%,0.80%and 0.71% respectively. Voltamp Energy was the only subsector loser and was down by 0.81% to close at RO 0.612.

Global Investment, DBIH, Financial Services, Transgulf Holding and Gulf Investment Services were increased by 3.77%, 2.86%, 2.06%, 1.70%and 1.68% respectively. OIFC, Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investment, Oman & Emirates and Bank Sohar were declined by 2.44%, 2.11%, 1.71%, 0.84% and 0.45% respectively.

Inspite of lower investor participation, the MSM opened on a positive note and closed at the beginning of this week with a gain of 0.20% to close at 6179.68 points. A total number of 1,877 trades were executed in today's trading session, generating turnover of RO 2.996 million with over 9.581 million shares changing hands. The market breadth was in favor for advancers. Out of 54 traded companies 25 advanced, 8 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained as net buyers for RO 600K while GCC investors continued to be as net sellers for RO 368 K followed by foreign investors and Arab investors for RO 207K and 25 K worth of shares.
