After yesterday’s slump, MSM30 index advanced today as it was led by buying interest witnessed on index heavyweights during the session. MSM 30benchmark index settled at 6654.71 points, up by 0.26% from the previous close.

After yesterday’s slump, MSM30 index advanced today as it was led by buying interest witnessed on index heavyweights during the session. MSM 30benchmark index settled at 6654.71 points, up by 0.26% from the previous close. At the session close, Oman &Emirates was the most active share in terms of volume while Bank Muscat remained as most active in terms of turnover. In the banking sector, shares of Bank Muscat, National Bank of Oman and Ahli Bank advanced while shares of Bank Dhofar declined. Renaissance and Omantel stocks advanced while shares of Galfar Engineering continued its downward trend for the third consecutive session. Cement sector stocks also witnessed decline in their prices.

Heavy selling pressure witnessed on National Bank of Oman caused the MSM index to continue its downward trend for the second consecutive session. MSM30 benchmark index closed at 6637.56 points, losing 0.53% from the previous close. At the session close, National Bank of Oman was the most active share in terms of volume while Bank Muscat in terms of turnover. Shares of National Bank declined after it revised its net profit and dividend proposal downwards. Bank Muscat shares continued its climb for the third consecutive session. In the industry sector, shares of Al Hassan Engineering advanced while shares of Galfar Engineering continued to decline for two sessions in a row.
