Can I deal in MSM as a
Foreigner?- Individuals of any nationality are allowed to invest in the Muscat Securities Market. The Capital Market Authority, the regulatory body that governs the activities at MSM, has decreed that the total stake of foreigners in an MSM-listed company shall not exceed 70% of the company’s issued capital.
- This new ceiling came into effect recently when the CMA raised the ceiling from the earlier level of 49% to 70%. However, even though this is applicable to all companies in general, the CMA has offered the companies’ boards of directors, the discretion to limit the level of foreign investment to whatever level they deem fit, subject to the maximum ceiling of 70%.
